Afghanistan Win by Eight Wickets

PAKISTAN vs AFGHANISTAN (1st INNINGS)

After electing to bat first, Pakistan amassed a massive 282/7 because to half-centuries from Abdullah Shafique and Babar Azam, and a late assault by Iftikhar Ahmed.

Before Azmatullah Omarzai dismissed Imam (17) in the eleventh over, Imam-ul-Haq and Abdullah Shafique put up 56 runs for the first wicket, establishing a respectable start for their side.

After that, Abdullah and Babar formed a strong combination that steadied the innings until Noor Ahmed used his twin strikers to remove Abdullah (58) and Mohammad Rizwan (8) in consecutive overs.

After that, Babar had brief partnerships with Shadab Khan and Saud Shakeel (25), but Noor defeated him with impressive figures of 3/49 in his ten overs. With a 74 from 92 balls, Babar scored the most runs for Pakistan.

The Afghanistan bowlers were then hit by a late attack from all-rounders Iftikhar Ahmed and Shadab Khan, who put up 73 runs in 45 deliveries before both players lost their lives in the last over.

Shadab Khan and Iftikhar Ahmed both scored forty, but Iftikhar Ahmed needed just twenty-seven deliveries—11 fewer than Shadab.

FALL OF WICKETS

49.6: 38b 1×4 1×6) Shadab Khan 40 105.26 SR

When Naveen bowled short and wide of off, Shadab was unable to place it where he wanted to and gave Mohammad Nabi an easy catch instead.

Iftikhar Ahmed (40) (27b 2×4 4×6) 49.2 SR is 148.4.

Since the ball was on a length and wide of off, Iftikhar attempted to loft this inside out. Although he gained elevation, he collided with the fielder on the boundary directly.

41.5: 92b 4×4 1×6 Babar Azam 74 80.43 SR

Noor invited Babar to cut out from his body with a short, wide delivery. He threw his weight to his rear foot and charged, only to have Nabi catch him at additional cover.

33.6: 25 (34b 3×4 0x6) Saud Shakeel 73.52 SR

He misplayed Nabi’s ball straight up, allowing Rashid to rush across and make an easy catch.

Mohammed Rizwan 8 (10b 0x4 1×6) is at 24.4. 80 SR

The ball ends up spooning to the man at short fine leg after Rizwan has to reach out to sweep it from wide outside off Noor’s delivery.

22.3: Shafique Abdullah (75b 5×4 2×6) 77.33 SR

Abdullah gets struck on his front pad while attempting to sweep Noor. Reviews of Afghanistan reveal no bottom edge. Ball tracking indicates that the ball hits the top of the leg stump after traveling underneath the bat.

10.1: 22b 2×4 0x6 Imam-ul-Haq 17 77.27 SR

Imam comes close to making a routine catch at midwicket when he mishits his pull shot attempt towards Omarzai.

PAKISTAN vs AFGHANISTAN (2nd INNINGS)

Afghanistan’s opening duo, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran, gave the squad a strong start as they combined for a century and two half-centuries, setting up the team to chase 283.

Before Usama Mir gave his team the much-needed breakthrough by eliminating Gurbaz in the 22nd over, the pair dominated Pakistani bowlers.

Gurbaz used nine boundaries and a six to hit 65 off 53 deliveries.

Ibrahim, meanwhile, held his ground and shared another foundational stand with Rahmat Shah, scoring 60 runs for the second wicket before being removed by Hasan Ali in the 34th over.

He smashed ten boundaries and scored the highest for Afghanistan with 87 off 113 balls.

Hashmatullah Shahidi, Shah’s captain, then joined him, and the two stitched together a reasonable 96-run combination to lead Afghanistan to a historic victory with an over remaining.

Shahidi scored 48 not out in 45 balls with four boundaries, while Rahmat Shah scored an undefeated 77 off 84 deliveries with five boundaries and two sixes.

Only Hasan Ali and Shaheen Afridi were able to take a wicket each for Pakistan; the rest of their bowlers failed to register any wickets.
